Steer Davies Gleave is delighted to announce the appointment of Russell Yell who joins the firm to further develop their Intelligent Mobility and Big Data insights offer. He joins as an Associate Director based in their UK Planning team.
Russell joins from Movement Strategies where he lead the delivery of innovative and smart solutions to public and private sector clients in Europe, North America and Asia.
Having spent 13 years delivering consultancy to clients in the transport, infrastructure, sports and major events, and entertainment sectors, Russell has a wealth of experience advising on transport planning and urban mobility issues. This is underpinned by strong relationships with technology and data vendors to advise on appropriate solutions for clients.
Russell led the delivery of a visitor insights solution at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, including cutting edge footfall analytics and the exploration of location insights derived from the guest WiFi network. Through collaboration with UCL and other universities these insights are supporting the development of one of the first Smart Sustainable Districts in Europe.
He also worked with Festival Republic to introduce the use of a “Location as a Service” platform at Reading Festival in 2015, which gave the festival organisers an understanding of aggregated customer movement in real-time, creating a new level of location-based insight to support improvements in visitor experience and safety.
At Steer Davies Gleave he will lead our offer in helping clients understand the strategic benefits of new technology, and ensuring that the business is realising the opportunities created by disruptive technologies in the transport and smart cities marketplace.
Sharon Daly, Head of Planning at Steer Davies Gleave said “Having Russell join our team is really exciting. We aim to bring to our clients quality, insight and innovation in transport and development advice and Russell’s experience and energy will no doubt enhance our existing capabilities.”
